Community Service and Tau Delta Phi
Tau Delta Phi historically stands for the principles of service: Service to Self, Community, and Brother. Brothers serve each other when they help advance each other forward. It is because of this principle that Tau Delta Phi requires such high educational standards for each brother and supports, with our education program, the development of brotherhood. Service to community takes place at all of our chapters! A Tau Delt knows how to serve the community; as Tau Delts, we support various service opportunities from blood drives to civic clean ups and campus volunteering. Service to Self takes place in a much more private way. Our brothers are asked to reflect on our ritual, our esoteric law and to incorporate those principles into daily life. We serve ourselves when we choose to have a high moral standard, when we follow in the footsteps of leadership with so many other men of our Fraternity, and when we choose to apply ourselves to our studies, our extracurricular activities and our chapter
Our National Philanthropy
Our members provide "sweat equity" as they learn to lead and advance each other as they provide service hours to our national philanthropy America's Second Harvest in conjunction with our national Phi Sigma Beta Service Learning Program. During this educational experience, our brothers learn humility, hard work, diligence, and partnership through using their hands to build a better sustainable tomorrow. Our national philanthropy was created and adopted in summer 2008.
Fast Facts
Our chapter won the PGC John Rodriguez, CK Award--Granted to the Fraternity Chapter that has performed the most community service hours from September 2005-May 2006. Our members averaged well over 6 hours per man for community service.
